I hit up Target the other night with the girls as a fun little activity since it was a million degrees out. I had a couple gift cards and wanted a new pair of sunglasses and to browse a bit. I know what you’re thinking, this is dangerous territory, lady. You have to go into Target WITH a plan and a list in hand. Otherwise you leave hours later confused and wondering where the $200 worth of stuff came from.
I LOVE organization.
Pregnancy has possibly led me to an obsession-level love of organization.
There’s nothing that makes me happier than when my home is organized. As an interior decorator, I can go on and on about the emotional side of your home and what this place means to me and my family. But functionally speaking, I want this place to run like a factory, as cold and heartless as that sounds.
One of my favorite styles lately is this “California casual” style I’ve been seeing all over the place. Emily Henderson has been posting a lot about how to get this effortless look in your homes on her blog. It’s fresh, bright and put together, but very comfortable and inviting at the same time. I had the opportunity a few weeks ago to not just use this style in a room, but actually go to California to create it. My cousin Ronnie, who is actually closer to my dad’s age, has been talking with me for awhile about helping him out with his house in Davis, California.
Well, we had our ultrasound last week and the baby was in a great position to determine the gender. Turns out my motherly instinct needs some tweaking. I have told EVERYONE we are having a boy. I had such a strong gut feeling about it. I even told Dave we didn’t need to find out the sex because I was so sure it was going to be a boy. We decided to find out mainly for our four-year-old daughter who has been praying for a sister since before Dave and I even got pregnant. I knew she would need the time to adjust to having a brother before he actually got here.
